February 27th, 2015

SAP Fiori is the new user experience (UX) for SAP software that applies modern design principles. SAP solutions, such as the SAP S/4HANA, SAP Simple Finance and the SAP Business Suite, are using the SAP Fiori UX to provide a personalized, responsive and simple user experience.
SAP Fiori UX speaks a consistent design language and makes use of a common technical infrastructure. By blurring traditional computing boundaries and by using interactive and attractive UI elements, it provides a consistent and holistic user experience across the enterprise and can be used across all device types.
Apps applying the SAP Fiori UX focus on the most critical and common activities and are designed around how people work:
• Role-based: Designed for you, your needs and how you work
• Responsive: Supports how and where you work, at any time
• Simple: Focuses on the important
• Coherent: Provides one fluid, seamless experience
• Delightful: Makes an emotional connection
When combined with the power of the SAP HANA platform, SAP Fiori delivers unmatched responsiveness. SAP solutions, such as our SAP Business Suite applications, use SAP Fiori UX to provide a personalized and role-based user experience for enterprise-wide engagement across lines of business. It provides optimal usability on multiple devices for the best business interactions and ease of use. Now SAP users can enjoy the real-time user experience.
• SAP Fiori launchpad
The SAP Fiori launchpad serves as an aggregation of all user tasks in one place (including third-party content, Web sites, and SAP Fiori certified/noncertified apps). Individual users can personalize their own respective SAP Fiori launchpad, organizing it into categories and folders to provide a single place for simple business interaction and ease of use

SAP announces solution to help ease big data deployment

February 11th, 2015

AP has released a big data rapid deployment solution for HANA-based big data applications, can help speed up large-scale business information processing.
The deployment solution, which can be rolled out in the cloud, on premise or in hybrid environments, combines the SAP HANA in-memory compute platform, SAP Event Stream Processor, with the added option to include SAP IQ software and the Apache Hadoop library, and is being pitched at firms that depend on and need to analyse large volumes of streaming data (i.e. manufacturing plant machine-generated data, or social media / sentiment analysis).
The solution optimises information processing for a wide range of data types and scenarios, and provides users with an integrated platform for real-time analysis, aggregation and visualisation. This solution helps our customers make sense of their big data and provides preconfigured content and highly applicable big data use cases as templates to jump-start their big data implementations.

S4/HANA: What does SAP’s next generation ERP mean for customers?

February 11th, 2015

SAP’s latest generation of the ERP S4/HANA – a SaaS model that promises to run on Hana and “on the fly” by removing satellite systems – is a bold move that changes the way firms’ core systems will operate.

S/4Hana would eliminate 40 percent of the SAP IT load, which comes with the data exchange between systems like CRM and ERP, by running applications on one system.

Reduced complexity
While the SAP landscape has become more and more complex due to the various new components the vendor has added over time, it is SAP’s intention to reduce this complexity with S/4 HANA. With this, SAP delivers on its promise to provide an integrated system.

This includes a fundamental reduction of the data complexity. In this new system layout, satellite applications do not need their own instance, which furthermore decreases the data volume. It also means that only a single database is needed: SAP HANA. As a matter of fact, applications and database will grow together and there will be no distinction between application and database layer.

Fast analysis
While the ERP will be the obvious choice for businesses already using cloud – the suite integrates with SAP’s acquisitions like Ariba, Success Factors and Concur; on-premise customers would not be left behind. Similarly to cloud vendor Salesforce.com, SAP will configure its cloud products so they can be used on-premise if a customer is not ready to make the leap.

The HANA Opportunity

February 11th, 2015

HANA is the innovation that makes this happen – not the legacy database world that separates OLTP, DW and OLAP, but rather a new category of database – one that is built on today’s modern hardware architecture to offer a unified data structure without compromising performance. HANA creates the opportunity to take an entirely new approach to building applications – removing yesterday’s constraints that have been sewn-into enterprise applications for the last couple decades.
S/4HANA is a full suite that is taking advantage of the HANA opportunity. S/4HANA is SAP’s core software reimagined, rebuilt to capitalize on the significant simplification that the HANA platform provides. This simplification comes by eliminating aggregates and indices, eliminating duplication of data, systematically separating Actual from Historical, and not requiring batch transaction or analytics queries. HANA provides an integrated Transaction Processing and Analytics data system that fundamentally changes how we build the enterprise software. As a result, S/4HANA will provide real-time access to all its users and use cases, and new features that capitalize on the fact that all queries come back fast enough for the user to explore the data. It also allows us to unify all the ERP data sets – unlocking deeper integration scenarios and another depth of insights.
What’s truly exciting is witnessing how customers will transform their own businesses with the innovations of HANA and S/4HANA.
