New York Life Selects SAP for Enabling Enterprise-wide Financial Transformation

New York Life is one of the largest mutual life insurers in the world. It has selected SAP AG for enabling an enterprise-wide financial transformation, whereby enhancing its overall business strategy too. New York Life has planned to merge its middle and back-office functions into one integrated platform using the SAP Insurance Analyzer analytic applications leveraged on the SAP HANA platform. This strategy will help in providing financial leadership by facilitating vital strategic business direction, including mergers and acquisitions (M&A), financing and capital market long-term strategies that support performance. This contract between SAP and New York Life was signed in March 2014.
Insurers have always been under pressure to move away from simply protecting and preserving the assets of the organization and to focus on providing more robust analysis and business insight. SAP Insurance Analyzer will facilitate New York Life in supporting an enterprise-wide financial transformation. SAP Partners with Inter Campus to Inspire and Transform the Lives of Underserved Youth in Brazil

Consistent with its enduring commitment to improve the lives of underserved children in the communities in which it operates, SAP AG has announced that it has joined hands with Inter Campus, the corporate social responsibility program developed by F.C. Internazionale Milano. This initiative will use the international game of football as an educational tool for restoring the right to play to needy and deserving children around the world. As part of the partnership, SAP financially support Inter Campus Brasil, which a division of Inter Campus, working towards transforming the lives of hundreds and thousands of disadvantaged children all throughout Brazil.

The first initiative taken by this partnership will be that, SAP and Inter Campus Brasil will host an event during the 2014 World Cup in one of the favelas in Rio de Janeiro for highlighting the extraordinary work being carried out by the organization. The event will be hosted by an Inter player and it will include a coaching session for the children and all the kids will be presented with an Inter shirt too.

Since last 14 years, Inter Campus has been responsible for implementing a flexible and long-term social and cooperation program in around 29 countries.  They have a dedicated task force of managers and coaches who coordinate the ongoing activities at the various centers globally where the focus is not only on teaching the skills of “the beautiful game,” but also on providing valuable educational and recreational projects for over 10,000 children from impoverished communities.  The coaches come together and work closely with 200 locally-selected instructors and countless volunteers working in the countries that are officially part of the Inter Campus Worldwide circuit.

SAP Retains its Position as Leader in Gartner 2014 Magic Quadrant for Talent Management Suites

SAP AG has confirmed that for the second time in a row it has been positioned in the Leaders quadrant of Gartner, Inc.’s “Magic Quadrant for Talent Management Suites (TMS).”*

This position was retained after the report evaluated global cloud-based HR software solutions from SAP’s SuccessFactors, and acknowledged the company as a number one provider of talent management technology based on its “ability to execute” and “completeness of vision.”

Timken Collaborates with Accenture and SAP to Drive Global Workforce Efficiency and Productivity

To drive efficiency and improve productivity across its global workforce, the Timken Company has decided to move its human resources (HR) system into the cloud. The new system, implemented by Accenture, is based on HR cloud solutions from SuccessFactors which is a SAP company. With its implementation Timken will be able to manage its workforce with a single set of global processes and clear global governance at a significantly lower operating and maintenance cost.

The Timken is an international industrial technology leader which is known to apply its deep knowledge of materials, friction management and power transmission to improve the reliability and efficiency of industrial machinery and equipment globally. It is into designing, manufacturing and marketing mechanical components and high-performance steel to diversified markets internationally. The company has recognized the need to more effectively manage its global workforce of nearly 19,000 associates across 28 countries and at the same time increase productivity by lowering the total cost of ownership of its HR systems. It wants to provide its HR department with a complete, end-to-end solution which will bring together employee and company data, offer integrated reporting capabilities and also provide advanced analytics for better business insight.

Key HR processes at Timken will run on SuccessFactors cloud solutions whereby taking advantage of their scalability and ease of use. As a result, from Jaunary 2014, all of the company’s 10,000 U.S. associates and 13,000 U.S. pensioners began receiving their pay through the SuccessFactors Employee Central Payroll solution. Accuracy of compensation data was increased by integrating the new system with the SAP ERP Financials solution.

As part of the collaboration, Accenture and SAP have also developed interfaces for vendors of time management and benefits solutions. These interfaces will help in reducing the time, effort and budgets required for future implementations of HR cloud solutions from SAP and SuccessFactors.

IBM and SAP AG have announced an international collaboration for providing tailored business applications and consulting services for the transportation and logistics industry.

Globally, transportation companies like ocean liners, freight forwarders and railways have recognized that challenges from energy costs to economic volatility cannot be controlled by the,. However, they will be able to provide improved performance by offering superior service to their customers if they evolve core business process execution with analytics, cloud computing, mobile and other technology advances. Having the backing of deep industry knowledge and experience from IBM’s SAP Center of Competence, IBM’s best practice templates will facilitate the transportation industry solution from SAP to be suitable and personalized to meet each transportation company’s needs. This is anticipated to result in lower implementation costs and faster time to value.

SAP and IBM have decided to work closely in the areas of business development, sales, sales support, marketing and consulting. Customers are expected to adopt these new solutions in step-by-step rollouts according to their specific organizational needs and existing infrastructures.
